We understand that people have a wide range of opinions and experiences when it comes to "church". For some, it's a place they went to on Sundays or holidays as a child because they were forced to. For others, the church is a place where they were hurt or manipulated. And for many others, church means absolutely nothing because they've never experienced it in their lives.
At The Bridge Church, you will find a family of Christ-followers that is genuine, compassionate, open, and inviting. We recognize that we're not perfect but that in and through Jesus, we can experience a glimpse of Heaven here on Earth. We do this by serving and loving one another sacrificially through what is known as the House Church model.
In addition to the traditional Sunday worship service that you may or may not be familiar with, our members gather in small groups (house churches) every Friday evening in our members' apartments or at our Bayside church location. Inviting a stranger into your apartment in NYC may seem like a crazy thing to do but we believe its a way to foster intimacy and serve others.
In the gatherings, we share a meal (usually prepared by a member or potluck style), sing one or two worship songs, and spend 10 minutes discussing a bible passage. The evening usually concludes with a time where our members can share (or not share) what's going on in their lives and pray for one another. You can share as much or as little as you want, so don't worry if you're shy or introverted (like me).
There are a million things you can do in NYC on a Friday evening, but if you want to spend some time in genuine community, come give us a try.
